The setting is in Long island New York. This effects the character's thoughts, actions, and choices because living in New York is already tough but living in poverty makes it even harder so that makes Marcus and Eddie think that when they need something that their parents can't provide the first thing that comes to thought is to rob people. My reaction if i had to adapt to the character's lifestyle it would be shocked because I would be coming from being able to get what i wanted with out a problem to struggle with buying even the smallest things because of the way of living.

The setting is Long Island New York during a time when racial discrimination was still around but not widely everywhere, this effects how Marcus and Eddie act in no way I personally believe simply for the fact that they are black and white and are both best friends, although their location does affect how they act, they both live in lower end houses with low income which causes them to resort into robbing people. Which when society looks at Marcus, since hes black they expect nothing less, what they believe about black people is, its rob or be robbed at least according to Eddies father.

Black And White takes place sometime after segragation. It is about two boys name Eddie and Marcus who are best friends. "Marcus being black and Eddie being white" Marcus and Eddie were both on the basket ball team and both of them being realy good they both got schooler ships.Sense they were both about to graduate they needed to pay some senior dues so instead of them getting a job they do some thing stupid and do some stick ups to get the money they needed when they were on there last one the accidentally shot the man not killing him but latter the man identified Marcus and he got put in jail.

Black and White takes place in the ghetto of Long Island, New York. The main characters are Marcus who is black and Eddie who is white. The friendship between the two is very uncommon because they are not the same race. Marcus and Eddie who are refereed to as black and white are stars of the LIC Football and basketball team. Both black and white have been offered scholarships due to their incredible talents. In the area around them there is lots of crime, its rob or be robbed. Marcus and Eddie fell into that rob or be robbed situation so they started to do stickups until it goes wrong one day. The scholarships and chances of going to collage to play sports are starting to fade away because of one poor decision.

The setting of this story is in Long Island
New York.It is about 2 kids in high school,
Eddie and Marcus. They are mostly known as "black and White",Marcus is Black and Eddie is White.Together they are a duo who are really good at basketball.During the story they are about to graduate and have to pay senior dues, but they do not have a lot of money. So they decided that the only way the dues were getting payed in the short amount of time is if they start robbing people for money.Eddie grabs the gun that belonged o his grandfather who is now dead to intimidate the people they are robbing. At no point did the thought come to their mind to shoot the gun,but no everything goes according to plan. When the victim was asked who shot him he quickly identified Marcus, and while Marcus got put in jail Eddie signed to a college to play basketball.

black and white takes place in the "projects" where crime is common. Marcus's nickname is black and he is African american and eddies nickname is white ad he is white. they are seniors in high school who are getting ready to pay senior fees for trips when a new pair of basketball shoes comes out, not wanting be behind on the trend they spend all their money on it with one month to pay fees. their parents wont give them the money so they decide to take white's grandpas gun and rob a few people to pay fees. put then they got greedy and one time the gun went off and shot a black man. they ran away. thinking they escaped the issue one day at a basketball game black was arrested and sent to prison and got out on bail. a few days later white ditched the gun and then got arrested. they both were charged with armed robbery.

good summary of the scripture, all though i do not believe he was sent to prison instantly since it was just a bunch of kids locked up there acting tough, it was more of a jail,(prison being much more of a serious place) but its not that big of a deal to mix them up in explaining

Black and white takes place in the projects where there are 2 kids Marcus is nicknamed black because he is african american and eddies nickname is white because he is caucasian they grew up together in the projects and became basket ball superstars in New York and they are seniors and to go on the senior trips they need $160 per person. So they figure that if they do a few stickups then they can make the money in order to go. so they did that and they wanted to do one more to get some pocket money but on the last one something went wrong the gun went off and got them both charged with attemped murder and robbery

im glad you specified caucasian rather than just saying "hes eddies called white because hes white" it sounds much more sophisticated and intelligent when your more accurate and precise. And sorry i have to point this out but it was actually $150 not $160 as you previously stated but a very minor mistake on your part.

The main characters of black and white are Marcus Brown and Eddie Russo.Marcus is black and Eddie is white.People who are different colors don't get that close in Marcus's neighborhood but Marcus and Eddie were like so close they were like real blood brothers and somebody came with a tag and called them "black and white". They played basketball and football for Long Island City High School, they were one of the best players they had. They had senior dues coming up but also the Nike came out with the new marauders and everybody on the basketball team were buying them so they decided to buy them too but they also had to pay their dues so they decided to make a mistake to get money.

Marcus, one of the main protagonists of Paul Volponi's Black and White, has some admirable values that can be directly correlated to his actions, for example when he went to senior night with his birth mother (whom's name i have forgotten) he was supposed to go down to the gym floor and hand his mother a rose. although due to his previous illegal actions he had been banned from participating in extra curricular activities, but this didnt stop him, so when the principal (or teacher i dont remember) got all angry they stayed regardless, but thats not where his family value comes in, it comes in right after where he has to protect his mother and sister from projectiles and oncoming attacks after all hell breaks loose.

I think it was very demoralizing when they would not let Marcus walk with his mom for senior night. I do think he made the right choice by going to show he is capable of handling himself when everything goes downhill. Do you think Marcus did the right thing by going to senior night even though he can not play?

In Black and White Marcus has the opinion to take a plea, if he dose take the plea then he will have to tell who the shooter is when him and Eddie did some stick ups and Eddie almost shoot some one with his granddads gun. If he dose take the plea then he wont go to jail as long ,but then Eddie will have to go to jail and miss the chance to go to collage and play basketball. so he ends up making a chose to take the plea so Eddie is probably going to jail. If it were me then I would not take the plea if it were one of my best friends i would know that they would do the same but I do not think Marcus is in the wrong here he now that he will be going to jail no matter what and he is thinking that there is no point in me taking the blame if i was not the one who shot the gun. So now that he is going to tell the judge then he wont have to go as long and when he gets out then he might be able to play professorially

Even if Marcus takes the plea it does not mean he has to give up Eddie. Taking the plea just says he admits to doing it. Eddie is not taking a plea and going to court because there is not much valid evidence on him. Marcus can say who the shooter was to lessen his sentence but does not have to do so. I personally think Eddie will not go to jail and will play collage basketball and go far in life because his best friend will not rat him out.

    2. i belive that eddie should plea guilty as well because he was the one thet set off the fire arm. but since he is not, Marcus has to do even longer time.

  13. In Black and White, Eddie was never caught for his shooting but Marcus took the fall for all of it and took a plea deal to try to get less time. I think Marcus took the plea deal to get less time for the crime. He knows he is guilty just like everyone else does. I think Marcus made a good choice in not giving Eddie up because he knew it would only make Eddie and is family hate him. Eddie is lucky to have someone like Marcus not rat him out because many people would. This is in my opinion a good Choice by Marcus.

  14. In the book black and white,I disagree with the actions of Marcus and Eddie because they decided that the only way to get money was to start robbing people to pay senior debts. They also decided to spend money money on some shoes for basketball, which was not even worth it because Blacks mom made him throw them away anyway. It was also stupid that they decided to rob people because they were not planning ahead if they got caught and thought they just needed enough money to pay senior debts but now i do not think they will make it to the end of the school year.

In black and white Eddie and Marcus think that that its okay to rob people instead of actually working for money, i disagree with their opinons on that. i would have prefered them to work hard for their money like everyone else does. the issue with robbing people is that its illegal.

In the part of the book I am at Marcus and Eddie are agueing about marcus taking the plea deal and Eddie really does not want him to take it because Eddie is afraid he will spill what he knows about Eddie pulling the trigger so Marcus takes the plea deal anyways and has to serve just under 2 years in the cages. After that happens Marcus and Coach casey are said to meat the principle and the principle says that he cant play for the team.

In black and white Marcus and Eddie are trying to overcome an obstacle because Marcus got arrested for a robbery with a gun so Eddie got rid of the gun."Then i took a deep breath, and pulled out the gun.I squeezed the handle and threw it as far as i could". i don't agree with Marcus's behavior because hes the only one who's getting arrested and not Eddie but they both should be arrested,But at the same time i agree with his behavior because Marcus doesn't want to give up who the other person was because that's his best friend. I think it's just wrong that Marcus is arrested and Eddie isn't, but Eddie was the one who pulled the trigger.

I believe the most important conflict in the book black and white is the robberies in the beginning. reason being is that literally nothing bad in the book would have happened if Marcus and Eddie would have not done it, except for maybe having to work at a restaurant for extra dough to graduate, or not buying those new "kicks". For example, they would have gotten scholarships and been able to play together, they would have been able to go to senior night without a riot, they also wouldnt be being investigated by detectives, which i think is a pretty big thing to not have to deal with.

    1. Very intriguing statement, to which i would have to say that i agree with, but under the specific circumstances and according to the powerpoint on the board i am not allowed to say this so i will just state that your conflict was an obvious choice and the reasoning provided made logical sense unto which it would affect their future as fictional characters.

      Delete
    2. spectacular paragraph written to the finest of qualities. i do respect the use of the robberies as a main conflict, which it so obviously is,and i also respect your reasoning, i mean you basically stated the whole plot of the book with the conflict provided and to pick a different one would be a barbaric excuse of literature and should be shunned immediately

      Delete
    3. I strongly agree with this because it is the reason this book is a thing. If they would not have robbed anybody Marcus would not have got caught and they would just continue playing basketball and that would be a boring book.

In Black and White Eddie and Marcus trying to over come and obstacle because Eddie and Marcus were doing a stick up with Eddie grandfather's gun and while they were preforming one Eddie accidentally shot the man with the gun. A few days later cops show up while Eddie and Marcus were at school and arrested Marcus for the stick up because the man recognized his photo in there year book so Marcus got arrested and Eddie was fine at school even though Eddie was the one who shot the gun. So because of this Marcus could rat his best friend to the cops or take all the blame and after this all happen Eddie and Marcus still try to be friends but its hard because Marcus is getting arrested while Eddie is getting schooler ship for basketball. I don't agree with Marcus's choose because even though we was part of the stick up he should not be taking all the blame but I can under stand were he is coming from because all he wants to do is keep being friends with Eddie when it all blows by.

    1. I agree that it is unfair that Marcus is taking all the blame. What is worse is that Marcus was not even the shooter but they can not really prove he was not because Eddie threw the gun somewhere no one would find it.It was thoughtful of Marcus to care for his friends future but i have a feeling if Eddie was caught he would not take all of the blame.

      Delete
    2. the fact he takes the blame himself is bad but at the same time he wants to cover up for Eddie and does what he has to do to keep Eddie out of the prison and he is trying to be a good friend

      Delete
    3. I agree and disagree that marcus should have took the plea but i dont agree that Marcus should snitch on Eddie because lets be honest no one likes snitches and Marcus also protected the Russo's from having to see there son go to jail

  20. In the book black and white the conflict starts at the beginning of the book when Marcus and Eddie pull of a string of robberies. At first things are going well but after the 3rd time they rob someone,Eddie decides to shoot the gun at the person being robbed. They get away but the next day Marcus sees Eddies jacket is covered in blood, this leads to the guys thinking that the bullet Eddie fired off may have hit the victim.Through the book the victim identifies Marcus as one of the robbers, this leads to a somewhat conflict between Marcus and Eddie which is because Eddie believes that Marcus could tell the police that Eddie was the other robber in the crime.

    1. I believe that is what leads up to the conflict but the conflict itself is actually the racial discrimination and the differences of how blacks and whites are represented and treated, especially in court

      Delete
    2. the conflict is that Marcus is literally taking all the fault of the situation and even if he told them they are getting treated different by their race

      Delete
  21. the main conflict is the fact that two different races were involved in a crime and the one that has to take all the blame is the minority and the other person doesn't which shows racial discrimination because one race can get away with it and the other cant.

The most important conflict is how different races are treated because they instantly thought Marcus was holding the gun and they didn't think Eddie had anything to do with the whole thing and it seems like this book shows that in that situation Eddie was innocent until proven guilty and Marcus was guilty until proven innocent because he was black which shows how racial discrimination in our world.

The most important conflict is discrimination because when Marcus got caught for the robbery and they didn't know that Eddie was there as well. Eddie's parents felt that Marcus was going to get into trouble sooner or later because where
    he comes from
