Ms. Gunnel is awesome! I'm really excited to read my book. The book I'm currently reading "CODE Orange" it is a possible outbreak of smallpox. That is what i assume as of this moment after I skimmed the book by a few pages just to get me bearings.

Well, so far the story isn't boring, anyways the setting is primarily set in New York City, which I find unfortunate. Don't get me wrong New York might be a fine place, its just that it seems to be overused as a setting. (I'm getting side tracked) The main reason New York City may be used that it is one of the most prolific cities in the United States and the most recognizable. Another is that it was the site of the most devastating attack on American soil, which the story's subject matter may be about except with bio-terrorism. The main focus of "Code Orange" is Mitchell "Mitty" Blake, and supporting him are his friends Olivia and Derek. Mitty as far as I could tell seems to be a bit of a love sick slacker who is privileged, Olivia who is Mitty's love interest and probably risk taker, and Derek who might be a bit obsessed with virology and might be too patriotic. One last thing to say is that Cooney (who is the author of "Code Orange") does good job indirectly stating who is who, but not directly stating facts at certain times. Of course it is just my opinion, don't take my word for it.

For now I'm practically at the middle of the novel, so I may not have a valid statement to describe the conflict, be it internal or external. Well it will be difficult for me to describe the external and internal conflict, (as I mentioned above my progress is in the middle) but I'll give this blog my best (not try or it will mean the death of me). For now the external conflict Mitty faces are tame to say the least, I mean college and maintaining your social life might be stressful. Though it pales in comparison to Mitty's internal conflict, which is whether or not he is infected with small pox via inhaling the crumbled remains of scabs. How Mitty's problems it may end might go like this; Mitty would be quarantined after he starts showing signs of small pox infection which would be in the college, and as a result the college would have to be sterilized for a few months. I know it might be a horrible way for his problems to end but its more plausible. Finding the author's tone was difficult for me but it does give me a sense of urgency to describe the mood.

I am on page 74, the setting takes place in New York City. The story is about Mitchell Blake, AKA Mity, and he finds some old scabs in a envelope and the story goes on from there.

I finally managed to finish the book (despite some interruptions) and to be quite honest I am quite unsure what to say. What I meant was that it is hard to have a comment as to give away the ending of Code Orange, because it might as well may spoil the experience for future readers. Though it is my opinion so do not take it seriously. The whole experience for me while reading was unfortunately underwhelming. When the actual external conflict does appear (if you're still reading the book stop now!). It appears as a small terrorist cell that kidnaps the main character (Mitty) after he posted a message concerning small pox on the internet (the twist is that he doesn't have the disease). Long story short, the terrorists were incapacitated by carbon monoxide poisoning in a car they had Mitty in (don't worry he does get better). The ending was a bit too unrealistic, after being rescued along with a visit from federal agents concerning with his encounter, Mitty basically goes on with his life after recovering from carbon monoxide poisoning. All I can honestly say about the story is that it delivers in terms of building up to the climax but it fails when it comes to the ending.

For give to inconsistency from the previous comment which would be, "The whole experience for me while reading was unfortunately underwhelming". Along with, "it delivers in terms of building up to the climax". I meant to say that over all the build up to the climax was okay but it became monotonous after a while.

Code Orange is about a kid named Mitty, short for Mitchell. I takes place in New York City.
The plot is about a kid who finds smallpox scabs and they turn into dust. He breathes them in.
