  1. I didn't care much for this novel. I didn't like the choppy sentences; it really interrupted my groove as I was reading. It took me nearly a week to get through this book because I didn't have any real desire to read. Most of the time I just questioned, "Why would they go from CA to NY just to risk being caught? Couldn't they get the same answers in CA?" I felt the plot was slow - way too drawn out. I feel this whole story could have been told as a short story, which would have left more time for me to read something much better over break.

  2. T-Dub,
Wow, I'm surprised by what you said. I'm only 40 pages in or so, but I'm really diggin' it so far--for the very reason you don't like it! LOL To me the writing style makes it feel conversational or stream of consciousness-ish. I like it! I feel like a 14-year-old girl really is telling me the story.

  3. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the human birds. I loved that their bones were lighter and I really loved the explanations of why they have to eat so much.

I could even handle the fact that there are also human wolves.

I have no problem accepting that there are secret research facilities where scientists work on all kinds of crazy, morally-gray projects.

But seriously: this book totally lost me the moment Angel starting reading minds. Really? Another Alice Cullen?

And then when Maximum's brain starts interfering with computers...I think that's the moment when my hardback book went flying across the room.

Just because an author has an idea for a wacky character doesn't mean it belongs in the same book as all the other wacky characters. If you want to write a book about a girl whose brain has a WiFi connection with computers, then write a book about that - don't try to shove it in a book about bird people!

And what is up with the stealing food? I didn't like Eddie and Marcus stealing in "Black and White" and I didn't like it in this one!

I was really relieved when I finally finished this book. Of course I forgot it in my car for a month, so I owed the library $4 in fines, but it was worth it just to get this book away from me.
